We have reduced the prices of our entire backcatalog. Any single-disc album now costs only 12,95. Most double-disc albums are now set at 18,95/19,95. The more extended packages have also been cut by 10-30%.

Basta to release new R. Stevie Moore album in 2012

R. Stevie is an American home recording legend with a worldwide cult following. He's blazed a DIY trail with his eccentric homemade lo-fi projects since the mid-1970s. Occasionally he enters a pro recording studio, where his songwriting genius is magnified. RSM has self-released over 400 albums, and 20 LPs and CDs have been issued on 15 labels in the US and EU. His first as-yet untitled release for Basta arrives in summer 2012, produced by Irwin Chusid.

Philips commercial featuring Sonja van Hamel!

Philips Sound Division has just released a new web-commercial. It features a song by the band Bauer, whose recordings are available from the Excelsior label. Bauer was formed by Berend Dubbe and current Basta-artist Sonja van Hamel. It's an awesome song, "I Am No Prototype" coming from the album "The Bauer Melody of 2006". The special thing about this commercial, as you will notice when viewing it, is that you can select each and every individual musician in the entire orchestra, obtain info on that person, listen to that channel only. Kind of a unique concept. Very ambitious, well executed. Cheers to Philips.

Duo Album Release Party!

October 19, we will release 2 albums at a time; they're both the first results of our collaboration with new producers JB Meijers and Ken Stringfellow. The artists involved are Sonja van Hamel and Dusty Stray. Both will perform a larger part of their new album this night. Location will be the lovely venue of Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. Entrance is only € 5,00, and for that you'll get a great night out.

Raymond Scott Quintette 75th Anniversary!

2012 marks the 75th Anniversary of the Raymond Scott Quintette, whose music is forever associated with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck — though bandleader-composer Scott had no interest in cartoons. Ever!

The Raymond Scott Archives celebrates the 75th with a series of live events and special projects (listed here). If you plan to coordinate an event, record Scott's tunes, or write about Scott, contact: info@RaymondScott.com. They can provide sheet music, photos, and historical resources. They are available for interviews.

New release announcement: Martin Fondse

November 2011, Martin Fondse will perfrom a series of concerts with Eric Vloeimans and the Matangi String Quartet. We will record these shows and release this as an ablum in the 1st quarter of 2012. This is going to be special, because Martin's contribution will - besides compositions and arrangements - be fully on an instrument named Vibrandoneon: a crossover between melodica and bandoneon. This instrument mixes and blends great with Vloeimans' trumpet. Now add a great string quartet - and you know something special is going to happen here!
