Dennis Farnon`s Mother Magoo Suite
Dennis Farnon composed background music for the UPA cartoon series "Mr.Magoo" in the late 1950s. In 1957 he recorded a novelty album of this music
entitled "Mr. Magoo in Hi-Fi," featuring his own orchestra accompanied by the talents of comedian Jim Backus, who voiced the near-sighted Magoo on the cartoon series. This LP contained a complete musical suite -- loosely inspired by Ravel's Mother Goose Suite -- entitled "Mother Magoo Suite."
In 1996 Gert-Jan Blom produced a modern digitally recorded version of this clever masterpiece with the celebrated Metropole Orchestra, conducted by Jan
Stulen. Fay Lovsky does a vocal guest turn, as well as playing toy piano and Theremin. The liner notes and art direction are by Dutch designer/music
historian Piet Schreuders, and the cover artwork is by noted American illustrator Wayno.
